This publication is intended to provide design guidance for theprotection of school buildings and their occupants against naturalhazards, and concentrates on grade schools (K-12); the focus is onthe design of new schools, but the repair, renovation, and exten-sion of existing schools is also addressed. It is intended as the firstof a series of publications in which hospitals, higher educationbuildings, multifamily dwellings, commercial buildings, and lightindustrial facilities will be addressed.
