The presentation captures lessons learnt from CHF International's KATYE project in Ravin Pintade, funded by OFDA and its recent World Bank funded PREKAD program to explore the potential of integrated neighbourhood-based revitalisation approach - as a planning-based alternative to creating vibrant and disaster resilient urban neighbourhoods. This approach advocates investing in re-building disaster affected and low-income urban neighbourhoods to include a range of affordable housing solutions including permanent and rental housing, market-driven economic opportunities, basic and social infrastructure and services “ interventions that are essential for expediting the decamping of internally displaced population (IDPs), providing housing for those who cannot afford to rebuild their houses in near future, and addressing challenges related to availability of land and security of tenure.
