This research paper focused on identifying the vulnerability and capacity levels of these villages, and collecting testimonies on indigenous coping mechanisms, disaster history, people’s perception of disaster risks, and documentation of the impacts of past events, as well as highlighting ways in which communities and local institutions could better prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from future hazards.
