Contribution to the Annual Forum of the International Recovery Platform (IRP) 26-27 January 2009, Kobe, Japan The purpose of this paper is to provide an introductory review of the current status of recovery operations in terms of integrating environment and long-term disaster risk reduction. The case studies, on Bangladesh and Myanmar, are intended to spur interest in a future study.
