Post-emergency rehabilitation policy

Once emergency needs have been met following a disaster and the initial crisis is over, people affected and the communities that support them are still in a state of heightened vulnerability. Post-emergency rehabilitation programmes are frequently needed. This policy covers aspects of such programmes. The principal points made cover community participation, community services, capacity building, disaster mitigation, gender and environment factors, coordination, disaster mitigation, and an exit strategy. Responsibilities are also described along with further references.
