Mainstreaming Safety and Security Management in Aid Agencies

This HPG Briefing looks critically at the organisational structures, management tools and policies that aid agencies are using, or could use, to improve the overall quality of their management. There remains an urgent need to develop competence rather than just raise awareness, and for more detailed policy and practice guidelines on specific challenges. It recommends the development of an organisational management plan, as a useful tool to drive a qualitative jump in organisational safety and security management.
