Guidelines for OCHA Field Information Management

Effective information management underpins the work of OCHA, particularly its coordination andadvocacy functions. For example, strategic and operational decision making and prioritizationrequire accurate and timely information; Information concerning the needs of affected populationsand the capacities and locations of humanitarian actors is critical for coordination. Quantifiableinformation on the conditions and needs of affected populations “ collected and updated on aregular basis and in a consistent format “ is required for analysis. Humanitarian advocacy effortsmust be based on objective, verifiable and reliable information.
