this report assesses both the local and global economic impacts of climate change in the Syrian Arab Republic. Syria is an important case study given the country’s location in a region that is consistently projected to be amongst the hardest hit by climate change. In addition, both global and local impacts matter for Syria’s future development, given its status as a net food- and energy-importing country for many commodities.
