This project details a project in Colombia, in the Choco' area and a Colombian RC “NLRC project, which is close to completion. The project is a truly inspiring example of ˜DRR in action!', which allowed this highly vulnerable community to cope with the incessant floods that hit them over the last years. The combination of innovative techniques, such as 2. 5m high elevated houses, connected to a widespread system of footbridges to ensure the families stay connected during floods, elevated gardens for food security, environmental awareness, a mobile (boat) heath equipment of NLRC in place makes this a very inspiring and replicated model programme. The community of San José de la Calle is full on, and have engaged in all phases of the project. Over less than one year, they have undergone a major change in their lifestyles, and a critical step to their survival in this extreme environment. They now have even proposed to change the name to te village and call it ˜San José de la Esperanza' (San Jose of Hope)! PLEASE FIND LINKS TO PRESENTATIONS BELOW UNDER ATTACHMENT.
