An Appraisal of Material and Construction Methods of Indigenous Earth Building in Rural Area of Nigeria

The study suggested indigenous building solution; earth as a building material and constructional methods which enable proper evaluation and assessment of earth ability to withstand the environmental condition, for effective durability. It assessed the surviving heritage of earth construction in Nigeria, exploring the efficient use of earth answer pertinent questions such as, how did they do it? What earlier solutions are still valid today? Is it true that mud is not as strong as modern materials? Is it affordable to vast majority? Some bad earth construction practices were identified with corresponding recommendation to improve the qualities of earth building product.
