Myanmar at the HLP Crossroads

This case study presents proposals for building an improved housing, land and property rights framework that protects the people and supports sustainable economic development in Burma. The analysis provides a brief overview of the most pressing Housing Land and Property challenges facing Burma at the moment, and examines the legislative framework for addressing these concerns combined with more thorough analysis of recent Housing Land and Property legislative developments. The report concludes with a series of concret recommendations designed to assist the Government to improve the overall HLP legislative and policy framework in a manner that provides protection and respect for the HLP rights of the entire population of the country, while simultaneously providing a solid basis for economic development, as well as national and international investment.
