Afghanistan: Law on combating disasters in the Republic of Afghanistan

This law makes the Department of Emergency Preparedness responsible for organizing matters related to prevention of natural disasters. The department must prepare and implement measures to prevent natural disasters or reduce the impacts of their aftereffects. Specific disaster risk reductions provisions include: article 4(5) and article 5(12) which deal with the economics and finances of preventing natural disasters; article 4(7) which deals with educating inhabitants about the effects of disasters; article 5(6) which deals with early warning; and article 6(2) which deals with risk and identification assessment.
