This Housing Policy sets the broad parameters for the development of the housing sector in Iraq. It reflects the need to accelerate housing production to meet demand and enable economic growth. The Policy considers the fundamental role that housing must play in sustaining a productive and mobile population. It considers as well the importance of the housing sector in responding to the needs of all Iraqis, consistent with the changing demographics of the country. It also considers the importance of public investment both for the growth of the sector as a whole and for the provision of housing to vulnerable and low-income group.
