The speaker described the work of the UNJLC in Darfur coordinating the NFI/Emergency Shelter sector. In 2007 the UNJLC became fully responsible for sector coordination. Described was how the NFI common pipeline involves the following principal partners: UNJLC, OCHA, UNICEF, CARE and the many more NGOs that distribute items on the ground. A total of over 2 million items were distributed in 2006. The speaker explained the process for submitting requests, selection criteria for beneficiaries, some recent developments, key objectives and lessons learnt.
