The September 21st, 2009 earthquake in Eastern Bhutan, has been the most devastating disaster faced by Bhutan in recent times from this disaster, the government has further realized the importance of reducing disaster risks and enhancing response preparedness. There is needed to make conscious efforts to mainstream Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) concerns into development plans and policies and to have a uniform and unified approach during response and recovery phases.
