Pakistan - The situation of human rights in 2010

The situation of human rights in Pakistan is one of the most serious in the Asian region
and has amongst the greatest impact on regional and international peace and security.
The absence of the rule of law and the jurisdiction of the State in many parts of the
country, as well as serious flaws in State institutions, has made Pakistan into a hotbed of
conflict and instability. Added to this, the country has suffered from devastating floods
during 2010 which has added greatly to the suffering of Pakistan’s population.
