The first speaker presented the four main areas of GIS work at UNHCR: registration of refugees, generation and presentation of statistics, camp mapping, and data mapping of a camp. The speaker introduced the methodology and guidelines currently under development by UNHCR.
Using Lugufu Tanzania as an example, the second speaker illustrated how mapping can be used to monitor the movement of people between camps and across borders.
