Sharon Rusu, Chief, External Relations and Support Mobilization Branch,
OCHA Geneva, stressed that providing shelter is among the highest
priorities of the humanitarian response. Her speech emphasised the need
for adequate funding for shelter, as well as the importance of
determining appropriate supplies. Additionally, relief efforts need to
be coordinated and standardised, and the Shelter Meeting provides a
good opportunity to address these issues. She also requested specific
attention be paid to issue of land rights and the proposal for
developing guidelines on transitional settlement.
