The Speaker presented the structure and approach of a scoping study commissioned by UN/OCHA to inform the revision of 'Shelter After Disaster - Guidelines for Assistance' (UNDRO, 1982). The presentation identified the major changes that have occurred since 1982 in the field of shelter following natural disasters.
The scoping study will be completed by the end of January 2006. The consultancy team consists of Yasemin Aysan, Tom Corsellis, Ian Davis and Antonella Vitale.
The second phase of the project is the full revision and re-publishing by UN/OCHA in 2008 of 'Shelter After Disaster - Guidelines for Assistance'. This phase is led by Shelter Centre and funded by DFID CHAD CHF.
