The IFRC Shelter Kit, IFRC, 2010

To support people helping themselves to provideappropriateshelter following a disaster, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) shelter kit has been developed, containing essential tools and materials to contribute to the construction of a basic household shelter or to make rapid repairs to damaged home. By creating a standardized shelter kit, pre-positioned regionally in significant quantities using defined and tested specifications, IFRC has significantly improved the speed of delivery and predictably at the start of shelter responses. In 2008, a total of 80, 000 shelter kits had been distributed in Myanmar, Haiti, Nepal, and Cuba, to rapidly provide thepreferred"non-tent" shelter relief.
This booklet has been developed as part of the IFRC Global Shelter Programme.
