There have been several documented major seismic events that have affected theCaribbean Region. Since the late 1600, over ten earthquakes with magnitude 5. 8 orgreater have impacted the region from Jamaica to Guadeloupe. Data collectedindicates that in the last 35 years, the frequency of higher magnitude event hasincreased noticeably.
